Menstrual Migraine Appointment Prep Checklist
A plain visit prep sheet for menstrual migraine talks, with prompts for cycle dates, headache timing, aura, nausea, medicine use, pregnancy plans, hormone history, and what to ask a clinician.
Use this before a visit about migraine near your period.
It helps you bring clear notes. It does not name the cause. It does not choose care.
Before the visit
Fill in what you know. Estimates are okay.
Question Your note Last period start date Usual cycle length Are periods regular? Migraine dates this cycle Days migraine began before bleeding Days migraine began after bleeding How long each migraine lasted Pain score, 0 to 10 Missed work, school, sleep, or plans
Use the menstrual migraine tracking guide if you need a longer cycle view.
Migraine notes to bring
Write plain facts. Do not try to prove a cause.
Track Your note Head pain side Throbbing or steady pain Light sensitivity Sound sensitivity Nausea Vomiting Neck stiffness Food cravings before pain Mood change before pain Feeling drained after pain
Tell your clinician if the pattern changed or feels new.
Aura and warning notes
Aura can matter for care choices.
Tell your clinician if you had:
Flashes, spots, shapes, or blind spots. Vision loss. Tingling in an arm or leg. Numbness or weakness. Trouble speaking.
Get urgent care now if symptoms are sudden, new, one sided, or feel unlike your usual pattern. This sheet cannot tell if it is migraine.
Medicine and hormone notes
Do not change medicine from this sheet. Use it to ask.
Topic Your note Pain medicine used Amount from label or plan, if known Did it help? Side effects Nausea medicine used Birth control or hormone use Pregnancy or trying to conceive Stroke, clot, or heart history Other health conditions
Ask your clinician what is safe for you.
Questions to ask
Bring the questions that fit your visit.
Could my migraine pattern be tied to my cycle? What else could explain these symptoms? How many cycles should I track? Should I track aura in a special way? Could my current medicine cause problems if I use it often? What should I do if I vomit during an attack? What choices fit my pregnancy plans? What choices fit my hormone history? Should I see a headache clinician or neurologist? What symptoms mean I should seek urgent care?
Write answers in your own words.
If prevention comes up
Your clinician may talk about care before symptoms start.
Ask:
Would a short period window plan fit me? Would a daily prevention plan fit me? Do hormone choices fit my aura history? What are the risks for my health? What should I track after any change?
Do not start supplements, hormones, or migraine medicine because of this page.
Short script
"My migraine attacks seem to happen near my period. I brought dates, symptoms, aura notes, and medicine notes. Can we review whether this pattern matters and what choices are safe for me?"
Privacy note
Migraine notes can include period dates, sex, pregnancy plans, and medicine use.
Bring a short summary first. Ask what details need to go in your chart.
Floriva can keep cycle notes on your device. Paper works too. Share the smallest record that still helps the visit.
For a visit packet, pair this with the menstrual migraine cycle log and the menstrual migraine data privacy checklist.
