Period Blood on Mattress Notes
A plain worksheet for period blood on a mattress, with cold-water first steps, sheet and pad triage, spot notes, bleach safety, repeated leak context, and photo privacy.
A mattress leak needs a calm plan.
Start with the layers you can wash.
Use cold water on blood stains.
Do not use hot water.
This is a cleanup worksheet.
It is not medical advice.
It does not promise the stain will come out.
For sheets, use the period blood on sheets laundry guide.
For a full room plan, use the period leak cleanup plan.
First triage
Move from top to bottom.
Layer What to do Note Sheet Remove and rinse with cold water Follow the tag. Pajamas or underwear Rinse or soak in cold water Follow the tag. Mattress pad Check care tag Wash if tag allows. Mattress protector Check waterproof layer Wash by tag. Mattress spot Blot with a damp cloth Do not soak it.
ACI says blood should be washed in cold water.
ACI also says hot water can set blood stains.
Mattress spot notes
Use only light moisture unless the mattress label says more is okay.
A mattress can hold water.
Too much water can make a new problem.

Blot with a clean damp cloth if the care label allows it.

Do not pour water or cleaner into the mattress.
Dried mattress spot
A dried spot may need a slower plan.
ACI laundry guidance says dried blood stains can be pretreated or soaked with an enzyme product.
That advice is for washable fabric.
Use care with a mattress.
Dried spot check Note Is there a removable cover? Can the cover be washed? Is the mattress surface washable? Does the product label allow this use? Can the spot dry fully today?
If the cover is removable, follow the cover tag.
If the mattress is not washable, keep the note simple.
Bleach and cleaner safety
Bleach can damage fabric.
Bleach can also be unsafe if mixed.
CDC says not to mix bleach with other cleaners or disinfectants.
Safety check Done Read the mattress or cover tag Read the cleaner label Use fresh air Do not mix cleaners Keep products away from kids or pets Let the spot dry fully
Do not use bleach if the tag says not to.

This table is for patterns, not diagnosis.
