Ovarian Cyst Treatment Decision Question List

A plain question list for ovarian cyst care visits, with prompts for watchful waiting, pain plans, medicine discussion, hormonal suppression if discussed, surgery, follow-up imaging, fertility goals, and privacy-limited notes.

Use this list when ovarian cyst care choices come up. It helps you ask clear questions. It does not tell you which path to choose.

Bring your symptom notes, imaging report, medicine list, and main goals. Ask your clinician to explain each option in plain words.

This page is for visit prep. It is not medical advice.

Start with your goal

Fill this in before the visit.

Question Your note What symptom do I most want help with? What symptom disrupts daily life most? Am I worried about sudden pain? Am I worried about bleeding changes? Do fertility or pregnancy goals matter now? Do fertility or pregnancy goals matter later? What care choice worries me most? What cost or access issue may matter?

Questions for any option

Ask these before you compare paths.

What type of cyst is suspected or known? What did the ultrasound show? What did the ultrasound not show? What symptoms might be related? What symptoms may have another cause? What are the main risks? What symptoms are urgent? What would make us change the plan? How will we know if the plan is working? When would we review the plan? What should I track at home?

Watchful waiting questions

Watchful waiting means monitoring without starting a treatment at that time. Ask if it fits your case.

Why might monitoring fit or not fit my cyst? What symptoms should make me call sooner? What pain change should make me seek urgent care? Would I need repeat imaging? When would the next scan happen? What change on imaging would matter? What bleeding changes should I report? What activity limits, if any, apply to me? What should I track before follow up?

Pain plan questions

Use this section to ask about symptom care. Do not start, stop, or change medicine from this sheet.

What can I use for pain in my case? What should I avoid with my health history? What dose and timing fit my health history? What side effects should I watch for? What pain level means I should call? What pain level means urgent care? What should I do if pain wakes me up? What should I do if pain comes with fever? What should I do if pain comes with vomiting? What should I track after taking medicine?

Medicine questions

Use this section if medicine is discussed.

What medicine are we discussing? What symptom is it meant to help? What can it not do? How soon would we review it? What side effects should I report? What side effects are urgent? Could it interact with my other medicines? Could it affect pregnancy plans? What should I do if symptoms change? What happens if it does not help enough?

Hormonal suppression questions

Use this section only if hormonal suppression comes up.

Why is hormonal suppression being discussed? What is it meant to reduce or prevent? What can it not treat? How might it change my bleeding? How might it affect ovulation? What side effects should I track? What side effects should I report right away? Could it affect fertility goals now or later? How long would we try it? How would we know if it is not a good fit?

This list does not tell you to use hormonal suppression. It helps you ask what it would mean.

Surgery questions

Use this section if surgery is discussed. Ask for plain terms.

Why is surgery being discussed? What surgery are we discussing? What would be removed or changed? Would the ovary be preserved if possible? What are the main risks? What are the limits? What symptoms might surgery help? What symptoms might remain? How could it affect fertility or pregnancy goals? What recovery time should I plan for? What help would I need at home? What follow up would I need? Is a second opinion reasonable?

This list does not tell you to choose surgery. It helps you ask what it would mean.

Follow up imaging questions

Use this if ultrasound or another scan is part of the plan.

Question Your note What scan do I need? When should it happen? What change are we watching for? Who explains the result? When will I get the result? What symptoms should I report before then? What happens if the cyst is unchanged? What happens if the cyst grows or changes?

Use the ovarian cyst ultrasound question list if imaging is your main visit topic.

Fertility and pregnancy goal questions

Use this section only if it matters to you.

How could each option affect pregnancy now? How could each option affect pregnancy later? Could the cyst type affect fertility goals? Could surgery affect ovarian tissue? Should I talk with a fertility specialist? What timing issues should I know about? What should I track while deciding?

You do not have to share fertility goals if they do not fit your visit.

What to track while deciding

Track enough to make the next visit useful.

Track Why it helps Pain date and time Shows when pain happens. Pain side Shows whether pain repeats in one area. Pain score Shows severity over time. Bleeding changes Shows what changed from usual. Bloating or pressure Shows daily symptoms. Nausea or vomiting Shows symptoms to report. Medicine taken Shows what changed and when. Side effects Shows what to report. Imaging dates Shows follow up timing. Missed work, school, sleep, or plans Shows daily impact.

Use the ovarian cyst pain log, period change tracker, and symptom checklist if you need shorter tools.

Private notes

Ovarian cyst decision notes can include pain, sex, bleeding, pregnancy concern, fertility goals, imaging, medicine, surgery, and insurance details. Share the smallest useful record.

Ask:

What data do you need for this decision? Is a one page symptom summary enough? Do you need full cycle history? Will this go in my medical record? Can I leave out private notes? Can I bring a short summary instead of a full export?

Floriva can help you keep short, on device notes and visit questions. Paper works too. It cannot choose treatment. It cannot make a high risk situation safe.

Read the ovarian cyst data privacy checklist before sharing a full export. Use the ovarian cyst surgery recovery log if surgery is planned.
