Emergency Contraception Pharmacist Question List
A low-detail question list for asking a pharmacist about emergency contraception labels, interactions, timing, period questions, test questions, refills, receipts, and privacy.
Use this list at the pharmacy counter, by phone, or in a portal.
It keeps the questions short.
It does not tell you which medicine to use. It does not give dose or timing advice.
Ask a clinician, pharmacist, or the label for medicine questions.
For the privacy side, use the emergency contraception data privacy checklist.
Start with a low detail script
Use only what fits.
You can add more detail if the pharmacist says it is needed.
Label questions
Ask the pharmacist to explain the label in plain words.
What does this label mean? What should I read first? Which warning should I notice? What does the label say about timing? What does the label say about food or drink? What does the label say about vomiting? What does the label say about side effects? What does the label say about when to call? What does the label say about storage? What part should I not miss?
Do not guess from memory.
Use the label or pharmacist answer.
Medicine and supplement questions
Bring a short list if you can.
Use the medication and cycle notes list if you need a table.
Ask:
Do any of my medicines matter here? Do any vitamins or supplements matter here? Do you need the full list? Do you need dose from each label? Do you need prescription names? Do you need over the counter medicine names? Do you need allergy notes? Should I ask my clinician too? Which symptoms should make me call? Who should I call after the pharmacy closes?
This page cannot review interactions.
Timing questions
Ask timing questions without making your own rule.
What timing detail do you need? What does this product label say about timing? Does my timing question need a clinician? What should I do if I am not sure about the time? What should I write down for my record? What should I leave out of my record?
For cycle timing after emergency contraception, read Plan B period timing.
Period and test questions
This page does not tell you if you are pregnant.
It does not say a period change means one thing.
Ask:
What period changes does the label mention? What side effects does the label mention? When should I ask a clinician about bleeding? When should I ask a clinician about pain? When should I ask about a pregnancy test? What should I do if my period timing changes? What should I track for a clinician? What details can stay out of the note?
For late period privacy, use the late period data privacy checklist.
Receipt and record questions
Pharmacy records can show private details.
Ask:
What will show on the receipt? Can I get a less detailed receipt? Will this show in the pharmacy app? Will I get a text alert? Will I get an email alert? Will the product name show in alerts? Can lock screen alerts hide details? Can family account access see this? Can delivery labels show details? Who can see this pharmacy profile?
Use the pharmacy reproductive health privacy checklist for a fuller audit.
Insurance and payment questions
Ask only what fits your payment choice.
Will insurance create a claim? What will the claim name show? Will mail go to someone else? Will an email go to the plan account? Can I ask for private contact settings? Can I pay another way? What will show on the card record? What will show in the store account?
HHS says HIPAA gives some rights for covered records. It does not make every record private.
Follow up questions
Before you leave, ask what to do with questions later.
Who should I call with label questions? Who should I call with side effect questions? Who should I call if bleeding worries me? Who should I call if pain worries me? What should I bring to a clinician? Should I keep the package? Should I keep a short note? Do I need to save the receipt?
Use the label or ask a clinician about symptoms that feel severe, sudden, or unlike your normal pattern.
Small note to keep
Keep the note short.
Floriva can keep a short cycle note on your device.
It cannot review medicine choices, labels, dose, or interactions.
It cannot control pharmacy records, screenshots, exports, backups, shared devices, receipts, or portal messages.
