How to Switch From Premom After the FTC Action

The FTC acted against Premom in 2023 for sharing location and reproductive health data. Delete your account and switch to an on-device tracker.

In 2023, the FTC took action against Premom's developer Easy Healthcare for sharing users' precise location and reproductive health data with third-party analytics firms, including firms based in China. The app continues operating. This guide walks you through deleting your account, submitting a data deletion request, and switching to a local-first tracker.

What the FTC action against Premom documented

In May 2023, the FTC took enforcement action against Easy Healthcare Corporation, the company behind Premom. The FTC's complaint documented that Easy Healthcare shared users' precise geolocation and reproductive health data with third-party analytics firms, including AppsFlyer and Google Analytics, and with firms based in China, without disclosing this to users or obtaining meaningful consent.

This was not a vague allegation about data practices. It was documented FTC enforcement: a complaint, a settlement order, and a prohibition on certain data sharing going forward. You can read the case details on the FTC's Premom enforcement page.

The settlement order limits what Easy Healthcare can do with your data going forward. It does not undo what already happened. If your reproductive health data and location data were already shared before 2023, that data is outside Premom's control now.

Premom continues to operate as a cloud-based app. This guide covers how to get your data out, delete your account, and move to a tracker that does not create a server-side copy of your reproductive health data in the first place.

Step 1: Export your data

Open Premom and navigate to your profile, then Settings, then Privacy, then Request My Data. Premom emails a download link to your registered email address. The export typically includes LH test results, cycle logs, BBT temperature entries, and symptom data.

Download and save the file before proceeding with any other step. This is your portable record of your ovulation tracking history.

Step 2: Delete your account

In Settings, go to Account Management, then Delete Account. Premom requires email confirmation to complete the deletion. Follow through on the confirmation step. The deletion is not queued until you complete it.

Uninstalling the Premom app does not delete your account. Your data remains on Easy Healthcare's servers until the account deletion processes.

Step 3: Submit a formal data deletion request

Email [email protected] with the subject "FTC Data Deletion Request. CCPA/GDPR."

In the body, include your Premom account email address. Explicitly request:

• Complete deletion of all personal data including reproductive health data and precise location data

• Deletion of any copies held in backups or archived datasets

• To the extent possible under the FTC settlement order, deletion of any data already shared with third parties

Cite CCPA Section 1798.105 if you are a California resident, or GDPR Article 17 if you are in the EU or UK. Premom has 45 days to respond under CCPA and 30 days under GDPR.

The reason to be specific here is the FTC settlement context: the data sharing that was documented included data sent to third parties. Premom cannot retrieve data that is already in third-party hands, but your written request creates a record that you asserted your rights.

Step 4: Verify the deletion

Wait 24-48 hours after completing step 2, then try to log in with your old Premom credentials. A successfully deleted account should return an "account not found" or "invalid credentials" response. If login still works, the deletion did not process, repeat step 2 or contact Easy Healthcare's privacy team directly.

Step 5: Choose your replacement

The priority for most Premom users switching over privacy concerns is finding a tracker that handles LH test logging and cycle prediction entirely on-device.

Step 6: Seed your history

Open your Premom export and find the last 3-6 cycle start dates. Enter them into your new tracker during setup. Prediction algorithms typically need 2-3 recorded cycles to stabilize, seeding from Premom's history cuts the calibration gap.

Once your new tracker has enough data to generate accurate predictions, delete the Premom export file. The data you want off cloud servers should not sit in an unsecured folder on your local device either.
