How to Cancel Natural Cycles and Delete Your Data

Cancel your Natural Cycles subscription, export temperature and cycle data, delete your account, and file a GDPR erasure request before switching.

Natural Cycles is FDA-cleared contraception stored on a cloud server. Before you switch, you need to cancel the subscription (separate from deleting the account), export your temperature data, delete the account, and file a GDPR erasure request. This guide walks through each step in the right order.

Before you delete: cancel the subscription separately

Natural Cycles works differently from free period tracking apps. It's a subscription product ($12.99/month or $99.99/year as of original publication; check current rates at naturalcycles.com, with hardware bundles available). The subscription and the account are two separate things, and you need to cancel the subscription before deleting the account.

If you subscribed through the Apple App Store or Google Play, your billing is managed there, not in the Natural Cycles app. Deleting the Natural Cycles account or app will not automatically cancel App Store or Play Store billing. You must cancel the subscription through your device's subscription management settings.

If you subscribed directly through naturalcycles.com, you can cancel through the website before proceeding with account deletion.

Natural Cycles is also different from other trackers in this guide because it is FDA-cleared as a contraceptive method. If you are using it for contraception rather than just cycle tracking, that distinction matters before you switch apps. A general cycle tracker is not an FDA-cleared contraceptive method. If contraception is your use case, speak with a healthcare provider before relying on a different tracking approach.

For users who are switching because of data privacy concerns, the cloud storage issue applies the same way it does with any other cloud-based tracker.

Step 1: Cancel your subscription

If you subscribed through the App Store (iPhone): Open your iPhone Settings, tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions. Find Natural Cycles and tap Cancel Subscription.

If you subscribed through Google Play: Open the Play Store, tap your profile icon, then Subscriptions. Find Natural Cycles and tap Cancel.

If you subscribed directly at naturalcycles.com: Log in at naturalcycles.com, go to Settings, then Subscription, then Cancel Subscription.

Do this step before deleting the account. Keep a screenshot of the cancellation confirmation.

Step 2: Export your temperature and cycle data

In the Natural Cycles app, go to Settings, then My Data, then Download My Data. Natural Cycles emails a download link to your registered address. The export includes your basal body temperature logs, cycle dates, fertility status entries, and account data.

Download and save this file carefully. BBT history is time-intensive to collect and not recoverable from memory the way basic cycle start dates sometimes are. This is your temperature record.

Step 3: Delete your account

Log into naturalcycles.com (or use the app) and go to Settings, then Account, then Delete Account. Natural Cycles is a Swedish company and GDPR-compliant, so the deletion flow includes explicit confirmation steps. Read each prompt and complete each step.

Deleting the Natural Cycles app from your phone does not delete the account. The account and all associated data remain on Natural Cycles' servers until you complete the in-app/website account deletion.

Step 4: File a GDPR erasure request

Email [email protected] with the subject "GDPR Article 17 Erasure Request."

In the body:

• State the email address tied to your Natural Cycles account

• Invoke your right to erasure under GDPR Article 17

• Request explicit confirmation that backup copies and derived datasets are also purged

• If you are a California resident, additionally invoke CCPA Section 1798.105

Natural Cycles has 30 days to respond under GDPR and 45 days under CCPA. The in-app account deletion handles your active data. The GDPR erasure request is what compels purging of backup copies that account deletion alone may not reach.

Step 5: Verify the deletion

Wait 48 hours after completing step 3. Go to naturalcycles.com and try to log in with your old credentials. A successful deletion returns an "account not found" or "invalid credentials" error. If you can still log in, the deletion did not complete, contact Natural Cycles support at [email protected] and reference the date you initiated the deletion.

Step 6: Decide on your next tracker

The on-device replacement decision for Natural Cycles users depends on whether contraception was the primary use case.

What to do with the temperature export

BBT data is valuable in ways that basic cycle dates are not. If you are moving to an on-device tracker that supports temperature logging, you can reference the Natural Cycles export to reconstruct your temperature patterns.

Once your new tracker has accumulated 2-3 cycles of its own data, the export becomes less critical for day-to-day use. At that point, store the export file encrypted rather than in a general Downloads folder, and delete it when you are satisfied your new app has enough history to be useful.
