Period Tracking Beginner Guide: What Should You Log?
New to cycle tracking? This assessment helps you figure out what to log, how often, and which features actually matter when you're starting out.
The biggest mistake beginners make is trying to track everything on day one. Apps present dozens of logging fields mood, energy, sleep, cervical mucus, cravings, exercise and new users either fill in everything for a week and stop, or skip everything because it's overwhelming. This assessment helps you start with the right amount. Question 1: How Long Have You Been Menstruating? Where are you in your cycle history? Option A: Less than a year. Your cycles are likely still establishing a pattern. Irregular cycle lengths are normal at this stage. Focus only on start dates. Option B: One to three years. Your pattern is forming but may still vary. Start and end dates plus flow intensity give you useful baseline data. Option C: More than three years. You have an established pattern, even if you haven't been tracking it formally. You can add more detail from the start. If your cycles are new, resist the urge to interpret patterns from three data points. You need six or more recorded cycles before patterns become meaningful. Question 2: Have You Tracked Before?
