Google Photos Locked Folder for Period Screenshots
A plain checklist for period screenshots in Google Photos, Locked Folder backup settings, messages, downloads, and shared devices.
Period screenshots can be useful.
They can also copy private data.
A screenshot may show dates, symptoms, sex notes, pregnancy tests, settings, or account details.
Google Photos Locked Folder can help keep some images out of the main view.
It does not erase other copies.
This page is not legal or medical advice.
For shared phones, use period tracking on a shared phone.
1. name what the screenshot shows
Use this table before you save more.
Screenshot type Keep? Safer option Cycle calendar maybe Write date range Symptom graph maybe Write top symptom Export screen yes, if needed Delete after export Privacy setting yes, if needed Write setting name Sex or pregnancy note only if needed Short private note Portal message only if needed Ask for a summary
Keep less when less works.
2. check Locked Folder settings
Google says Locked Folder uses your device screen lock.
Google also says Back up Locked Folder can be on or off.
Check:
Do I know my screen lock? Can someone else unlock this device? Is Back up Locked Folder on or off? Do I want that backup choice? Are the screenshots still in the main Photos view? Are copies still in other folders? Are copies still in Files or Downloads?
Write the answer.

3. move only what needs a lock
Do not use Locked Folder as a junk drawer.
Move screenshots with a clear reason.
Examples:
A setting you must prove. A symptom chart for a visit. A portal message you still need. A data export step. A screenshot you plan to delete later.
Skip screenshots you do not need.
For low detail records, use the period tracker data minimization guide.
4. check other copies
Locked Folder does not control every place.
Look here too:
Screenshots folder. Files app. Downloads folder. Messages. Email. Browser downloads. Cloud drive. Work or school account. Old phone. Shared tablet.
If you sent the screenshot, the other person may still have it.
If you uploaded it, the app or site may still store it.
5. use short labels
Use plain labels that do not say more than needed.
Instead of Try Period app export proof App export Pregnancy test screenshot Health note Sex log screenshot Private note Vulvar symptom photo Skin question Heavy bleeding chart Visit chart
Use exact words only when they help care or records.
For lab screenshots, use the lab results period data privacy checklist.
6. ask before you send
Use this script.
If the full image is not needed, send less.
7. after the task is done
Pick what happens next.
Choice When it may fit Delete the screenshot The task is done Keep a short note The facts matter, not the image Keep in Locked Folder You still need the image Turn backup on You choose cloud backup Turn backup off You choose device only storage
Backup choice is personal.
Check it on purpose.
For a full copy map, use the period app data map worksheet.
