Work School Before Period Impact Log

A work and school impact log for focus, mood, sleep, task load, attendance, and cycle timing before a period.

Work and school can feel different before a period.

Focus may drop. Sleep may get worse. Mood or pain may change the day. This log helps you write down what changed and when.

It is not legal advice. It is not HR or school advice. It does not tell you what to ask for. It does not say what a workplace or school must do.

Quick impact note

Fill this out after a hard day.

Question Your note Date Work, school, or both Cycle day, if known Days before period, if known Period due date, if known Sleep last night good / broken / short / not sure Focus today usual / harder / very hard Mood today steady / low / tense / angry / tearful Body symptoms cramps / headache / bloating / fatigue / none Main impact missed time / late work / task delay / conflict / none Main question

Use plain facts. "Missed first class" is enough.

Daily impact log

Use one row per day for the week before bleeding.

Date Cycle day Days before period Setting Focus Mood Sleep Body symptoms Attendance Task impact : : work / school / both usual / hard / very hard steady / low / tense / angry good / broken / short on time / late / missed

ACOG says PMS may include problems concentrating. OWH says PMDD may include trouble thinking or focusing, low energy, and trouble sleeping. The log shows timing and impact. It does not prove the cause.

Sort what changed

Check what fit this week.

I missed work, class, or a required event. I was late. I needed more time to start. I needed more time to finish. I forgot a task or item. I made more small mistakes. I had trouble with noise or interruptions. I avoided a call, meeting, or group task. I had conflict or felt close to conflict. I had pain, fatigue, or poor sleep. Bleeding started soon after. This also happens far from period timing.

You do not need a perfect record. A few clear notes can help.

One page pattern summary

Use this after bleeding starts, or after the week ends.

This summary can be the only thing you share. You can keep the daily log for yourself.

Copy this only if you choose to share a short note.

What I want to ask:

You can remove any line. You can say "health pattern" without naming period details.

Privacy boundaries

Work and school notes can become records. Keep the full log private unless you choose otherwise.

Before you share, ask:

Privacy question My choice Do I need to share period dates? yes / no / not sure Do I need to share mood details? yes / no / not sure Would a short summary be enough? yes / no / not sure Am I sharing screenshots? yes / no Did I remove details about sex, pregnancy, or family? yes / no Do I want this in an email or portal record? yes / no / not sure

Sharing is optional. A clinician may need more detail. A school or workplace may not. You choose what fits the setting.

Questions for care

Pick what fits.

Could this timing matter? What else can affect focus, mood, sleep, or pain? Should I track this for another cycle? What symptoms mean I should call sooner? Should I bring a short summary instead of full notes? What private details can I leave out?

For PMDD timing basics, read the PMDD period tracking guide. For a shorter handoff, use the cycle focus visit summary. For privacy, use the focus mood cycle data privacy checklist.
