Swimming on Period Plan

A plain swim-day period plan for pools, lakes, beaches, bathrooms, products you already use, backup clothes, wet bags, swimwear notes, privacy, and local notes.

A swim day can still need a plan.

Use this before a pool, lake, beach, or open water swim.

It is not medical advice.

It does not give product use instructions.

It does not endorse swimwear.

It does not promise no leaks.

For a beach plan, use the period at beach checklist. For a water park day, use period at water park notes.

1. Pick the swim setting

Start with the place.

Question Your note Swim date Place pool / lake / beach / river / other Swim time Period day before / day 1 / day 2 / later / not sure Bathrooms nearby yes / no / not sure Private changing area yes / no / not sure Ride home plan No swim option

CDC Healthy Swimming has guidance for pools and natural water.

Check the local rules before you go.

Pool, beach, and team rules can vary.

2. Map bathroom access

Look for bathrooms before you get in the water.

Place Bathroom note Backup note Pool deck Locker room Beach or lake path Car, room, or tent Store, cafe, or office

If a bathroom is far away, write that down before you get in the water.

Ask yourself what plan feels manageable.

Keep a backup note for clothes, bags, and the ride home.

Use the public bathroom period product change plan if the bathroom setup feels hard.

3. Use products you already know

This section is for packing.

It is not product advice.

Question Your answer What product do I already use for swim days? Did I read the product label if I need to? yes / no Do I need to ask a clinician? yes / no Did I pack backup products? yes / no Where will backups stay? What should stay out of shared bags?

Do not try a new product only because of this sheet.

If a product has bothered you before, write that down.

Use the period product backup layer planner for backup clothes and layers.

4. Pack dry clothes and a wet bag

Wet clothes make privacy harder.

Pack a simple change.

Item Packed Where it is Dry underwear Dry shorts, pants, or skirt Loose shirt or cover up Small wet bag Plain supply pouch Extra swimwear if you use it

CDC clean hands guidance lists after using the toilet and after touching garbage as key times to wash hands.

Pack soap access or sanitizer if bathrooms may be limited.

5. Make a swimwear note

Swimwear choices are personal.

This sheet does not rate or sell swimwear.

Use this private note instead.

Swimwear question Your note What feels easy to change in? What feels private enough? What will I wear after swimming? Do I need a darker or thicker backup layer? Where can wet clothes go?

Do not count on clothing to solve every problem.

Treat it as one backup layer.

6. Note the swim plan

CDC physical activity guidance says some activity is better than none.

You can also split activity across the week.

Your period may change the plan.

Plan note What I want nearby Question Swim as planned Change the plan Sit out or rest Leave early Ask for help

For gym or team days, use the period workout intensity planner.

For run days, use running on period notes.

7. Plan group words

Pick words that do not share more than needed.

text I need a bathroom stop.

I need dry clothes.

I am sitting out this round.

Meet me near the lockers.

Use the smallest words that work.

You do not owe a full health story.

8. Keep swim notes private

Swim days can create extra copies.

Check these before you post or sync.

Route maps from open water swims. Pool, gym, or club check ins. Screenshots of period notes. Photos of bags or product pouches. Locker numbers or wristbands. Group chats about bathrooms. Shared Apple ID or Google account. Fitness app tags like period, cramps, or PMS.

Use the fitness app period data privacy checklist before you tag a workout with cycle notes.

Use wearable devices and period data if a watch or tracker logs the swim.

9. Floriva note

Floriva can hold a short local note.

Example:

Short notes can still help.

They can also reduce cloud sharing.

No app controls every copy.

Screenshots can spread.

Exports can move.

Backups can sync.

Shared phones can be seen.

For a broader plan, read the period tracker data minimization guide.
