How to Switch from Maya to Floriva

Step-by-step guide to export your data from Maya and start tracking privately with Floriva.

Maya by Plackal Tech is a cloud-based period tracker popular in India and Southeast Asia. This guide covers how to get your data out and switch to a tracker that stores everything on your device.

Before you switch

Maya is one of the most downloaded period trackers globally, with a large user base in India and Southeast Asia. It is built by Plackal Tech and operates on a cloud-based model. Your cycle data, symptom logs, mood entries, and any health notes you have added all live on their servers.

Maya has faced documented scrutiny over data sharing. Privacy International reported that Maya shared intimate health data with Facebook's SDK before users agreed to a privacy policy. Whether current versions have addressed this fully depends on which version you are running and which privacy policy is now in effect.

Cloud storage also means your data is subject to legal process in whatever jurisdiction Plackal Tech operates. For users in countries where reproductive health data carries legal risk, that is a real concern.

Export your data from Maya

Open Maya and check the settings menu for any export, backup, or data download option. Maya's export capabilities have changed across versions, so the exact path depends on your app version.

If you find an export option, use it and save the file locally. If no export function exists in your version, you will need to manually record your data. Open the calendar view and write down:

  • Your last 6 cycle start dates

  • Average cycle length

  • Any symptom patterns you have been tracking

You can also submit a formal data access request to Plackal Tech citing GDPR Article 15 (if applicable) or your local data protection law. This compels them to provide a copy of your personal data, though response times vary.

Set up Floriva

Download Floriva. No account is required for core tracking. Core cycle records stay on your device unless optional encrypted sync is enabled.

Enter your cycle start dates during onboarding. If you were using Maya's symptom tracking, Floriva supports custom symptom logging that you can configure to match the categories you were tracking in Maya.

Rebuild your cycle history

If you have been using Maya for a long time, the history matters for prediction accuracy. Our guide to rebuilding period history after switching apps covers how to prioritize which data points to transfer and how many cycles you need for reliable predictions.

Focus on cycle start dates and duration first. Symptom patterns are useful for your own reference but do not affect prediction calibration.

Delete your Maya account

Check Maya's settings for a Delete Account or Deactivate Account option. If one exists, use it. Uninstalling the app does not delete your data from Plackal Tech's servers.

If no in-app deletion is available, email Plackal Tech's support or privacy contact address and request account deletion and complete data erasure. Reference GDPR Article 17 or your applicable data protection regulation. Keep a copy of your request email.

After deletion, uninstall the app. Verify by attempting to log in after a few days. A successful deletion means authentication should fail.

For more on the deletion verification process, see our data deletion guide.
