Period Pain Medicine Question List

A plain question list for period pain relief tablets, labels, medicine already used, pregnancy warnings, pharmacist questions, and clinician follow-up.

Medicine questions are easier with the label in front of you.

Use this sheet to record what you already used. Then ask a clinician or pharmacist how the label applies to you.

This page does not recommend a medicine. It does not give doses.

Bring the bottle, box, or a clear photo.

Question Your notes Product name Active ingredient Why I used it Date and time used Amount already used, if known Label followed? yes / no / not sure Helped? yes / no / not sure Side effects or worries Other medicines or supplements Allergies or past reactions Pregnancy question, if relevant

FDA says OTC pain medicines can be in products for headaches, colds, and menstrual cramps. Some products can share active ingredients.

Label questions

Ask these with the package nearby.

What is the active ingredient? Does this label fit my age? Does this label fit my health history? Does this label fit my other medicines? Does this label fit pregnancy or breastfeeding questions? Does this product repeat an active ingredient I already used? Which warning matters most for me? What side effects should I watch for? What label warning should I ask about? Should I ask my clinician before using this again?

NSAID pregnancy warning question

FDA recommends avoiding NSAIDs at 20 weeks or later in pregnancy unless a health care professional specifically advises it.

Ask:

Is this product an NSAID? Does the FDA pregnancy warning apply to me? What should I do if I am not sure? Who should I ask before using it?

This page does not interpret pregnancy status. It does not tell you what to take instead.

Visit questions

Use these if pain keeps disrupting your day.

What should I track before follow up? What pain pattern matters most? What daily impact should I record? What medicine questions should go to a pharmacist? What medicine questions should go to you? What contact instructions apply to my notes? Do you need to know what helped or did not help? Should I bring the package next time?

Use the period pain diary template to track pain over time. Use the severe period cramp visit summary if pain is the main reason for the visit.
